Joseph Fenech

Joe Fenech is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of GenOpp Capital Management, which he launched in 2020. He oversees all aspects of the firm’s investment strategy, including stock selection, portfolio management, and research direction. He also leads the production of research content, engages with company management teams, and drives marketing efforts.

In addition to his role at GenOpp, Joe is the owner and principal of SMBT Consulting LLC, providing advisory services to companies in the banking sector.

With 25 years of experience in the banking industry, Joe has held roles as a research analyst, investment banker, board member, and entrepreneur. Before founding GenOpp, he trained under a top-ranked banking sector analyst and served as a senior research analyst at the leading investment banking firm specializing in financial services. He was later recruited to a boutique firm, where he served as Managing Partner and founded an award-winning equity research platform, overseeing a team of analysts covering 125 banks nationwide.

A respected voice in the industry, Joe is frequently invited to share insights with boards of directors, at industry conferences, and through various media outlets.
